Walmart's Black Friday 2021 Ad is Out (2024)

Walmart's Black Friday ad dropped on Nov. 15 at midnight ET. This is just one day earlier than its 2020 release. The ad is 20 pages in length.

In addition to showcasing deals on TVs, AirPods and Instant Pots, the Black Friday sale ad includes toys, small kitchen appliances, home decor and clothing. However, what will really catch the eye of some shoppers is the gaming selection – more on this below.

When is Walmart's Black Friday sale?

This ad finally gives shoppers a date to mark on the calendar. Up until this point, Walmart had noted it would have a third 'Black Friday Deals for Days' event, but it had yet to reveal the date or hours. The sale starts on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. ET online and starts in-store on Nov. 26 (Black Friday) at 5 a.m. Walmart Plus members will have early access to deals at 3 p.m. ET on Nov. 22.

This is earlier than Walmart's Nov. 25 start in 2020, which follows the trend we're seeing this year where retailers are kicking off Black Friday sales a week ahead of the actual day.

As some may have suspected, Walmart is still promoting membership to its Walmart Plus program. Just as in the first two Deals for Days events, Walmart Plus members will have access to the sales four hours ahead of time, at 3 p.m. ET on Nov. 22.

This may come as disappointing news to some shoppers, given that supply shortages are a major concern this holiday season. The Walmart Plus membership is $98 per year or $12.95 per month. Typically, you can sign up for a 15-day free trial, but early access to Black Friday Deals for Days events is unavailable to trial members.

If you're looking for a hot ticket item from Walmart's Black Friday sale, it might be worth putting that $13 towards a membership. We recommend factoring that cost into the discount on-hand to see if it's worthwhile and consider the potential opportunity cost of having early shopping access as well.

If you followed Walmart's Black Friday Deals for Days events 1 and 2, you'll notice a few repeat deal categories in this ad, particularly when it comes to home goods, toys and clothing. But there are a few standouts. Notably, as we mentioned above, in the gaming world.

This final ad boasts the availability of the two hottest gaming consoles that shoppers have been trying to get their hands on for more than a year now: the Xbox Series X and PS5. Over the past few weeks, we've seen brief periods where these consoles have been back in stock, but they always sell out quickly. On Nov. 18, they can back in stock briefly for Walmart + members, but again sold out fast. They will be back in stock again on Nov. 22, but you'll want to be sure to hit refresh a few times to keep tabs on the stock supply.

Meanwhile, the X Box Series S will be available for $299, and Nintendo Switch with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will also be available for $299.

Walmart's best Black Friday gaming console deals

• The ad confirms Walmart will have the PS5 ($499),Xbox Series X ($499) and Xbox Series S in stock ($299).
• Nintendo Switch bundle with "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" game download: $299. That's the total price of the console alone; since this is still in high demand, you're not likely to see a ton of sales – instead, bundle offers like this one.

Walmart's best Black Friday headphone deals

• AirPods Pro: $159. That's $38 off, which isn't bad but not a huge saving opportunity, either, especially if you plan to spend $13 on a Walmart Plus membership.
• Beats Solo Pro Wireless Headphones: $99 ($50 off) this is the best deal we've seen on these headphones, so far.

Walmart's best Black Friday home appliance deals

• Instant Pot 8-Qt, 9-in-1 duo crisp: $99 special buy, we haven't seen this model priced this low in Instant Pot Black Friday sales yet.
• Instant Pot 8-Qt, 7-in-1 multi-cooker: $59 special buy.
• iRobot Roomba i1+ self-empty robot: $349 ($230 off). While we've seen great robot vacuum deals across the board, we haven't seen many discounts this steep on iRobot Roombas.

Walmart's best Black Friday fitness tracker and Apple Watch deals

• Apple Watch Series 3 GPS 38mm: $109 ($90 off) and 42mm version for $139 ($90 off). These are very affordable prices for an Apple Watch, but these models don't include the bells and whistles of newer editions. Now that Apple has a Series 7 watch, you can expect to find better deals on Apple Watch 6 this year (think $40 to $50 off) compared to 2020.
• Fitbit Versa 2: $119 ($60 off). This is the same price you'll find at Macy's, Costco and Kohl's. If you're a Kohl's shopper, though, we recommend you buy it there and benefit from the $15 for every $50 reward in Kohl's Cash.
• Fitbit Charge 4: $69 ($60 off). This model is not as popular this year since there is a newer Fitbit Charge 5 model on the market. Since it can be harder to find, swooping one up for less than $70 isn't a bad idea if you're looking for a fitness tracker with the go-to essential features.

• Roku SE Streaming Media Player: $15. Only available at Walmart and perfect stocking stuffer material.

You can score a decent deal on a smartphone during Walmart's Black Friday sale, if it is tied to a contract. You can also get up to $750 in eGift cards with select Apple or Samsung phones.
