According to the Mercury News:

Jesus Berrios II, 33, of Castro Valley was pronounced dead after landing on the train tracks below the bridge after being thrown off the side of the bridge, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officers with the CHP responded to the scene at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday near the on-ramp of I-80 at Pomona Street in Crockett.

Both the motorcycle and car were traveling eastbound on I-80 when the crash occurred. Berrios rear-ended the other car, the CHP said. The car remained on the highway.

From the CAD log, it was in eastbound lanes 3-4, east of the Pomona onramp (last before the bridge). A look at Google Maps shows little distance between that onramp and the railroad tracks where the rider fell.

For info, two scenarios--a cutoff caused by a driver and a rear-ender caused by a motorcyclist--account for more than half of motorcycle crashes on freeways in the Bay Area. What was unusual (and fatal) here is that the rider fell from the bridge.
