An Irish expat living in Australia has sent shoppers running to Kmart after discovering a surprising range of UK Cadbury chocolate on shelves.

Maria Mulchrone was shopping at the Kmart store in Eastgardensin the eastern suburbs of Sydneywhen she randomly stumbled across the beloved treats.

'PSA: Irish and English expats in Australia... Kmart has Easter eggs from home. You're welcome,'Maria said in hervideo.

'An Eastermiracle.'

The foreigner was stunned when she took a closer look at the label on the back of the chocolate box - only to be greeted with the words: 'Made in the United Kingdom'.

'I couldn't believe it,' the shopper said in disbelief.

Maria, who has lived in Australia for almost two years after relocating from west of Ireland, said she was delighted to get her hands on the UK Cadbury Down Under.

'I actually felt so proud to see Irish/UK produce on this side of the world in a chain as big as Kmart,' Maria told FEMAIL.

The shopper said she knew right away the Cadbury chocolates were from the UK because she noticed the names were different from those made in Australia.

'The Caramel Nibbles egg caught my eye because in Australia, they're known as Caramello,' she explained.

Maria also pointed out that white chocolate in Australia is referred to as 'Dream', whereas back home, it's simply called 'white'.

She confirmed the chocolate from Kmart tasted like 'proper UK dairy milk.'

'Cadbury Ireland/UK uses a lot of Irish milk which is renowned for its quality as it comes from grass fed cattle,' she told FEMAIL.

'I believe our chocolate has a higher milk content hence its rich creaminess.Australian Cadbury has a higher sugar content making it sweeter.'

After announcing the news on social media, shoppers rushed into stores to grab the rare chocolates .

'Now I wish I had stocked up before my video blew up, loads of the shelves have been empty since,' she said.

The British Cadbury chocolates start from $5 and includes the classic hollow Easter eggs, KitKat, Smarties and more.

Her video has been viewed more than 100,000 times - with many saying they are racing into stores to stock up on the beloved sweet treats.

'Omfg. This has made my year. Running,' one said.

'Doing the Lord's work! Bought $60 worth today - thank you,' another revealed.

'Oh gosh. I love English Smarties eggs! So nostalgic,' one added.

'Omg omg omg English chocolate! I'm running to Kmart,' another raved.

UK Cadbury is said to have a higher cocoa content and less sugar, resulting in a more richer, creamier chocolate flavour. In contrast, the Australian version is formulated with a higher melting point, giving it a slightly 'waxier' texture.

This is because Australian Cadbury often contains additives, such as cocoa butter substitutes, which make it more stable in warmer climates.

Many have long debated whether UK Cadbury tastes better than Australia's version.

'UK Cadbury is so much better. You can't convince me otherwise,' one said.

'It tastes stupidly better (than Australia),' another claimed.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Kmart for comment.
